Picture Tour of Presidio La Bahia
Photographs by Donald Burger, Attorney at Law

The Presidio La Bahia was constructed in 1749 to house the Spanish garrisons that guarded Spanish missions in the area. In 1960 the present structure was built as a reconstruction of the Presidio as it is thought to have existed in 1836.

After Colonel Fannin surrendered during the Battle of Coleto, he and his men were taken to the Presidio La Bahia as prisoners. They were executed on orders of Santa Anna, with Fannin being executed last.
