I am a registered member of the Cherokee Nation. I trace my lineage back to Oo-lu-tsa (She's come), a fullblood Cherokee, and the mother of Che-kaw-nah-ler (Forget me not) and Nancy. Nancy married George Lowry, a Scotsman. His son, Major George Lowry, married Lucy Benge. Their daughter, Lydia, married Dr. Milo Hoyt. Their daughter, Ester, married James Ward. My mother's mother was a Ward. This information is set out in Springplace, Moravian Mission and the Ward Family of the Cherokee Nation by Muriel H. Wright, copyright 1940.
