The College of the State Bar of Texas exists to recognize lawyers who maintain and enhance their professional skills and the quality of their service to the public by significant voluntary participation in continuing legal education.
The State Bar mandates that every lawyer complete fifteen hours of continuing legal education each year. The College of the State Bar doubles that requirement to thirty hours per year. As of January 27, 1996, only about eight percent of the attorneys in Texas are able to meet or exceed the requirements for membership in the College.
I qualified for the College of the State Bar in 1986 and have maintained my membership ever since.
