My Adventures with Dutch Ovens
by Donald Ray Burger
Attorney at Law

I became interested in Dutch Oven Cooking in the waning years of the twentieth century. I was originally drawn to this type of cooking through my interest in American History.

Dutch Ovens have a long history in America, and were in common use well into the 1900's. Paul Revere is often credited with standardizing the design of Dutch Ovens. A Dutch Oven accompanied Lewis and Clark on their famous Expedition, and the Dutch Oven was the cooking implement of choice for the westward bound pioneers and on the chuck wagon of the Old West.

I like cooking, so long as I can do it outdoors. Dutch Ovens are a natural for that. I have cooked everything from breads to desserts in my Dutch Ovens. If you are interested in this historic cooking method, I hope you will give these pages a look as they celebrate this historic cooking method. Then go out and get a Dutch Oven (or two) yourself, and begin your own adventure.
