Double Overhand Loop
(Last revised August 22, 2023)

1. Begin by making a long bight.

2. Take the bight in your right hand near the curved end.

3. Moving the curved end, tie an overhand knot, not near the loop end.

4. Because the bight has two “parallel” parts, this will be a double overhand knot.

5. How far away you make the overhand knot will determine the size of the double overhand loop.

6. This is a very secure loop, and it can be tied in the middle of a line if there is sufficient slack.

7. It is fairly easy to untie.
