Double Overhand Stopper Knot
(Last revised August 22, 2023)

1. Take the working end of a bight and lay it over the standing end, forming a loop.

2. Take the working end UNDER the loop, in the direction opposite the working end.

3. Repeat the action by taking the working end OVER the loop and then UNDER the loop yet again, still in the direction opposite the working end.

3. That is the double overhand knot.

4. When you tighten the knot, it is a stopper knot that looks more elegant than a simple overhand stopper knot and is slightly larger. The figure of eight knot is harder to tie but as a stopper knot it is even larger than the double overhand stopper knot, and easier to untie.
