Nouveau Flamenco, by Ottmar Liebert (Higher Octave Music).
The most famous nouveau flamenco album, and deservedly so, is Ottmar Liebert's Nouveau Flamenco. This album was released in 1990 and has set the gold standard for this genre. I first heard this album in Santa Fe, and it always brings back memories of that great city. This is sensuous, compelling music. If you only buy one nouveau flamenco album, make this the one. Of course, after listening to this album you will be hooked on this style of music.
Obsession: New Flamenco Romance, Various artists (Narada).
This collection from Narada features a great collection of nouveau flamenco artists. I got my copy at the Discovery Store in the Houston Galleria. I liked the collection so much that I went out and bought a couple of the albums of artists featured on this CD. Highly recommended.
Gypsy Fusion, by NovaMenco. (Baja/TSR Records).
This is a wonderful album by a great nouveau flamenco group. I bought is after listening to the Obsession album mentioned on this page. Highly recommended.
