Windham Hill Records Sampler '82 by Various Artists (Windham Hill Records).
This collection of various Windham Hill artists is still one of the best introductions to New Age Music. I have been playing this disc for years, and still enjoy it. It features such greats as William Ackerman, George Winston and Liz Story, among others. It is an expensive disc, because once you give it a try you will probably go out and get the albums by the artists featured on this collection!
Music to Disappear in, by Raphael (Hearts of Space).
Hearts of Space is the name of the radio show that first introduced me to New Age music. You can hear it at 10:00 pm on Saturdays on 88.7 FM radio in Houston. It is a nationally syndicated show so "check listings in your area." This album was put out by Hearts of Space in 1988. The music by Raphael absolutely fits the title of this album. It is mellow times ten. I like to put this CD on as background music while reading. Or drinking wine. Or both. I have given this disc several times as a gift. Very romantic. Very soothing.
Autumn, by George Winston (Windham Hill Records)
I have many discs by George Winston. This disc seems to fit its title. Aautumn is a mellow time, and George Winston captures the emotion of the season on this evocative album. Great piano work. This is a good album to play while doing office work.
Woodlands, by Various Artists (Narada)
This collection features various artists that are featured on the Narada label. This is a mellow collection that really works well. The selections seem to flow into each other, and this gives the album a unity one might not expect on a "sampler" album. Give it a try.
